Hello and happy Wednesday! Today we are going to be talking all about SKINNY JEANS! Yes, that’s right. The style of jeans that Gen-Z declared was deader than dead, and that left the rest of us wondering, what do we wear now?
Let’s dive in…
Here’s the thing. It can definitely feel hard because when “someone” or an entire generation, suddenly declares a trend being dead via social media, it really can mess with your head! There you were, the day before rocking that exact trend or style, feeling great, and then bam, someone who is about 20+ years younger than you on TikTok or Instagram says that style is no longer “cool” and we all follow suit. I fall prey to it as well, and even styling these outfits, I had a moment where I was second-guessing myself a little bit. Like, should I be creating outfits around skinny jeans, when no one seems to be wearing them anymore?
It can be tricky because if you start to follow trends too religiously without asking yourself if you actually like what you’re being shown, it can feel a bit like (or a lot like) herd mentality. After finishing filming and photographing my outfits, I can confidently say I would absolutely wear every single one of these looks. I stand behind my styling and my POV, but overall just want you guys to feel good in what you're wearing. Just do you. If you feel good, confident and comfortable, then wear the dang thing!
Below is a video I created that goes a bit more in depth with it all, so give it a watch to hear my key points, thoughts and takeaways, and to see the 6 outfits I created around my black, and dark blue denim skinnies.

Key takeaway tips:
Lately, I have been working with quite a few clients who have asked me what to do with all their skinny jeans that they invested money in over the years and how they are feeling reluctant to throw them out because deep down they still really love them. Listen, I get it! All I wore for a good 5-7 years were skinny jeans! I did do a big denim purge recently and ended up getting rid of all but three pairs: two black denim and one dark navy blue denim. But to answer the questions, no, you do not need to get rid of ALL your skinny jeans, however, that doesn't mean keep all of them, either.
When sorting and purging your skinny jeans, my advice is to let go of all pairs that have any distressing, whiskering, fraying, rips, tears and/or holes in the knees. This is the fastest way for you and your jeans to look dated. (Quick reminder: this post is all about how to update your skinny jeans. So if that is what you are looking to do, then read on, but if you like a really distressed pair of light wash skinny jeans and you feel like your best self when you wear them, then by all means, DO YOU and disregard the rest.)
Get the length right. Hem or fold it up and under, but make it so that there is no bunching at the bottom. I like to have mine hit right at or a tad above my ankle bone.
The more saturated the wash, the more classic they will look. Channel Audrey Hepburn and her skinny pants with the goal to get your skinny jeans looking more like a chic slim pant, which will give them an updated feel.
